Luther College Hosting First and Second Round Matches of 2019 NCAA III Men’s National Soccer Tournament

The 2019 NCAA Division III Men’s National Soccer Tournament 64-team field was announced on Monday, Nov. 11. Luther College will host first and second round matches, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 16-17.

Luther is making its tenth appearance in the national tournament, the fifth under the leadership of Head Coach Chris Garcia-Prats (2011, 2013, 2016, 2018, 2019). In 2011 the Norse advanced to the Round of 16 and last year lost to the University of Chicago in the Round of 8 (2-1) in overtime.

Luther (16-4-1) will face Principia College (12-6-0), Elsah, Ill. in the first match on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 1:00 p.m. Central College (14-3-2) will face UW-Superior (16-3-2) at 3:30 p.m.

The winners will advance to the second round match that will begin at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17.

Luther earned an automatic berth to the national tournament by winning the six-team American Rivers Conference Tournament. The Norse defeated the Duhawks of Loras College 2-1 in the tournament championship match on Saturday, Nov. 9 in Dubuque. The tournament title was the ninth conference tournament championship and third in the last four years.
