Seven members of the Luther College men's soccer team have been named to the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) 2019 Fall Sports All-Academic Team.
To be eligible for All-Academic Team honors a student-athlete must be on the eligibility list for the sport of nomination, at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least one year in residence and attain an accumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better (on a 4.0 scale).
All-academic teams are sponsored three times a year, fall, winter and spring. The fall sports all-academic team is comprised of student-athletes from the sports of men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, football, volleyball, women’s tennis, and women’s golf.
Earning all-academic team recognition were seniors Harry Merz (Wellington, New Zealand) and Ben Sizelove (Grayslake, Ill./Central); juniors Carson Davenport (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic), Steven Johnson (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnehaha Academy) and Paul Strand (Decorah, Iowa); and sophomores Ruivaldo Freitas Viana (Duino, Italy) and Jake Muhlbauer (Decorah, Iowa).
Davenport, Johnson, Merz and Strand are all being recognized for the second time.
