The American Rivers Conference has released the 2019 men's soccer preseason coaches' poll and Luther College has been picked to finish second behind Loras College.
Norse head coach Chris Garcia-Prats, who begins his 12th season, returns four starters from last year's team that posted an overall record of 19-4-1 and advanced to the Round of Eight of the NCAA III National Tournament. During his tenure, Garcia-Prats has compiled an overall record of 137-66-23, 56-24-5 in conference play. He has led the Norse to three conference titles and four appearances in the national tournament.
Returning all-conference performers include 2018 first-team honoree senior defender Harry Merz (Wellington, New Zealand), and two-time first-team selection (2017, 2018) senior forward Ben Keller (Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake).
Luther enters the year ranked No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA III National Preseason Poll. The Norse begin play in Colorado Springs, Colo., when they will face Johnson and Wales University Aug. 30 and Colorado College Aug. 31. Luther begins its home schedule against No. 12 University of St. Thomas Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
