The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced that Luther senior defender Ahmed Osman has been named the league's Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 15. This is the second time of his career he has been son honored.
Osman anchored a defensive line that helped Luther go unbeaten this past week. The Norse faced three United Soccer Coaches North Region ranked teams and one that was ranked nationally. The Norse defeated No. 3 Simpson 2-1 in overtime, No. 5 Wartburg 2-1, and played to a 0-0 double overtime time draw against No. 1 Macalester College that was also ranked No. 18 nationally.
Osman, a second-team all-Iowa Conference honoree a year ago, has started all 15 matches for the Norse.
With three matches remaining on the regular season schedule, all against Iowa Conference opponents, Luther sits atop the league standings with a record of 4-1, 8-4-3 overall.
