Brunno Colon Named Iowa Conference Male Athlete of the Week

The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced that Luther College junior forward Brunno Colon has been named the Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 15.

Colon helped Luther go unbeaten this past week and move into first place in the IIAC standings. The Norse defeated Simpson College 2-1 in overtime Oct. 10, with Colon scoring the game winner in the 93rd minute. He also was credited with an assist on Luther's first goal of this match in the 85th minute by Tyler Pieper. Three days later, the Norse defeated Wartburg College 2-1. Colon scored the first goal of the match in the 16th minute assisted by Andrew Avram.

The Norse wrapped up a busy week at No. 18 Macalester College and finished that match in a 0-0 double overtime tie. In a match that was controlled by the defense, Colon was the only Norse player to place on shot on goal against the Scots.

With three matches remaining on the regular season schedule, Colon has scored five goals and added three assists for 13 points.

Luther enters the final stretch with a league mark of 4-1, 8-4-3 overall.
