Luther shot the low round of day two (304) and finished in third place at the 36-hole Loras College Invitational. The two-day tournament was played at Thunder Hills Country Club, Peosta, Iowa. The course measured 6,542 yards and was a par 72.
The Norse shot 318 on day one and finished with a two-day total of 622. Host Loras won the team title posting rounds of 309-308-617. The University of Dubuque was second at 314-305-619 and both St. Mary's University (MN) and UW-Stout finished tied for fourth at 624.
Individually, Ben Phipps and Joe Fewer posted top-10 finishes. Phipps carded rounds of 77-74-151 and finished alone in second place from the field of 57 golfers. Andrew Gates of Clarke College was medalist shooting 70-77-147. Fewer posted rounds of 76-77-153 and finished in a four-way tie for fourth place.
JP Knutson (79-76-155) finished in a six-way tie for 11th. Spencer Horst completed the Norse top-four scorers shooting (87-77-164) and was tied for 35th. Ben Meyer rounded out the Norse five (86-81-167) was was tied for 41st.
Carson Hagen (81-81-162) played as an isdividual and finished tied for 31st.
Luther's next tournament will be the Nebraska Wesleyan University Invitational. This two-day tournament will be held April 14-15 at Hillcrest Country Club, Lincoln, Neb.
