A game that was scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m., was delayed for six and a half hours, due to severe weather in the area.
Entering the fourth frame, Simpson held a one score advantage 17-10. The Storm scored 21 unanswered points within a span of four minutes en route to a 38-17 Homecoming victory over Luther tonight in Indianola.
During this stretch, the Storm blocked a Norse punt and picked up a Norse fumble, and turned both plays into touchdowns. A 24-yard touchdown run by Cam Bunting completed the 21-point barrage. Bunting finished the game with 161 yards on 23 carries.
Luther scored on a 33-yard field goal by Cory Wirth and touchdown runs of two and seven yards by Brady Letney. Letney led the Norse rushing attack that was held to 241 yards, with 78 yards on 18 carries. Yassine Ouazzani and Nick Slavens were next with 65 and 60 respectively.
The loss was the first for Luther in the Iowa Conference. The Norse are alone in second place with a mark of 3-1, 4-2 overall.
Luther will host league leaders No. 22 Wartburg College one week from today. The Knights are undefeated with a record of 4-0 in the IIAC, 6-0 overall. Kick-off will take place in Carlson Stadium at 1:00 p.m.
