D3football.com has released the 2018 All-Region Teams. Luther College senior defensive lineman Michael Noll (Lake City, Minn./Lincoln) was named third-team all-West Region.
The D3football.com All-Region teams started in 2005 and honors three teams of top players in each of the four regions in Division III football.
Nominating begins shortly after the regular season ends, and involves the Sports Information Director at each institution, using the stats they already upload to D3football.com through PrestoSports. SIDs are contacted by email and the list is sent to conference offices for vetting before our panel of SIDs and D3football.com staff in each region votes.
Players who are a first-team or second-team all-conference selection or independents at full Division III members are eligible for nomination.
The teams, selected in balloting by West Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 255 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 78 players were chosen.
Noll, a first-team American Rivers Conference selection, finished the 2018 campaign with 51 tackles that included 13 for loss and seven sacks. He was also credited with two pass break-ups, two forced fumbles and three blocked kicks.
With this honor, Noll becomes the fifth Luther player to be named to an all-West Region team. This list includes linebacker Kyle McGivney (2009 (2), 2010 (1), 2011 (1); wide receiver Kyle Pearson 2006 (2); running back Tyler Sherden 2007 (2); and offensive guard Jon Stavast 2006 (1), 2007 (1).
