Five of the top-seven teams at today's UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational are ranked nationally. Twenty-nine teams competed on the 8K course that was run on the Whitetail Golf Course located in Colfax, Wis.
No. 29 St. Olaf College won the team title with with 88 points. No. 27 UW-Stevens Point was second with 108 and No. 15 Carleton College was third with 122. No. 34 UW-Eau Claire finished fourth with 138 and was followed by UW-Oshkosh with 144, No. 30 UW-Stout with 163. Luther finished seventh also with 163 points.
Individually, Tom Altier placed 11th from the field of 446 runners that finished the race, with a time of 25:26.4. The remainder of the Norse five that counted towards the team score included Ian Kelly (21st - 25:35.7), Collin Kern (30th - 25:47.7), Sam Schillinger (34th - 25:50.1) and Dan Iselin (70th - 26:25.0). Colin Weber (112th - 26:49.7) and Caleb Burjes (135th - 27:06.6) were sixth and seventh for the Norse.
Luther will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 when they will race in the UW-La Crosse Jim Drews Invitational. The race will take place at Ettrick Golf Course, Ettrick, Wis., starting at 11:00 a.m.
