Luther All-American Invitational - Recap

It was the 46th running of the All-American Invitational this afternoon in almost perfect conditions in the valley. Ten teams raced in the men's college division. Luther placed seventh posting a point total of 175. Iowa Central Community College won the team title with 19 points. The Luther alumni team was second with 73 points and Loras College was third with 74.

Awet Yohannes of Iowa Central won the individual title. Yohannes covered the 4 Mile course in 20:21 finishing just ahead of Alec Bass of Dubuque (20:22.2) and Ezekiel Kipchirchir (20:22.8) of Iowa Central.

Luther's top five and where they placed from the field of 172 runners included Alex Streitz (26th - 21:47), Collin Kern (34th - 21:59), Tom Altier (35th - 21:59), Grant Sparstad (47th - 22:15) and Colin Weber (48th - 22:17). 

Quenton Max (55th - 22:25) and Nick Shaleen (65th - 22:36) completed the top-seven.

Luther's next action will be Friday, Sept. 28 when they will compete at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational. This race will take place at Whitetail Golf Course, Colfax, Wis. Start time is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
