Luther hosted Ripon College this afternoon in the Regents Center. This was the first meeting between these two teams on the basketball floor since January 7, 1984. The Red Hawks jumped out to a 35-26 halftime lead and went on to secure a 59-49 victory.
The Norse had difficulty making baskets as they shot 32% that included a 22% effort from behind the three-point line. The Red Hawks shot 45% and won the battle of the boards 45-28.
Aaron Blumberg was the only Norse to reach double digits. Blumberg was 4-of-7 from the field and added a free throw en route to 12 points. Gage Thompson and Rahul Bagga were next with nine and eight points respectively. Garrian Wade led all rebounds collecting a career high 10.
Seth Kostrocki led a trio of Red Hawks double digit scorers with 17. Jaylen Mahone was credited with 14 and Drew Jorgensen chipped in 11.
The loss levels Luther's overall record to 3-3. Ripon improved to 3-1.
The Norse return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 26 when they will travel to Crown College located in St. Bonifacious, Minn. Start time for this non-conference game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
