Twelve different players scored as Luther rolled to a 93-42 victory over Northland College (WI) in the third place game of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Tournament hosted by California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California.
The Norse blistered the nets shooting 52.5 percent that included a 12-of-25 effort from behind the three-point line. Tyler Wedemeier led a trio of double digit scorers with 14 points. John Androus and Nathan Meyer both chipped in 11. Meyer's point total was a career high. Luke Wright and Christian Koepnick came off the bench and also posted career highs with eight and seven points respectively.
Defensively, the Norse held the Lumberjacks to 24.5 percent and won the battle of the boards 47-24. Brian Nnaoji led all rebounders with a career high 16 that included 14 on the defensive glass.
The win wraps up the non-conference schedule giving the Norse an overall record of 7-4. Northland fell to 0-8.
Luther will begin Iowa Conference action at home on Saturday, Jan. 5 when it will host Loras College at 4:00 p.m. This game will be video streamed.
