The Luther baseball team is traveling to Tuscon, Arizona March 14-17 to play five games at the Kino Sports Complex.

March 14 vs. Bethesda University (CA) 13, Luther 9
Bethesda University, located in Anaheim, California defeated Luther this afternoon at the Kino Sports Complex by a final of 13-9. The Flames tallied 19 hits and scored in every inning except three. Luther had 12 hits and scored two runs in the first, four in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the ninth.
Ryan Manternach (0-2) was credited with the loss in relief. Manternach allowed four runs on seven hits working 2 2/3 innings after taking over with two outs in the bottom of the second.
The loss was the fifth in a row for the Norse who are now 3-5. Bethesda University improved to 9-10.
Friday, March 15 - Luther 17 Concordia Wisconsin 2 (7)
Luther exploded for 17 runs on 15 hits and defeated Concordia Wisconsin 17-2 in seven innings. After taking an early 7-0 lead with four complete, the Norse finished all of their scoring thanks to a 10-run fifth.
Jake Vogt, Jake Halverson and Owen Vander Linden all had three RBI. Bryce Hingst and Matt Clark drove in two runs each, while Trent Athmann, Derek McCready, Tanner Reising and Joe McKibben were all credited with one RBI.
Joey Cardamon threw five scoreless innings en route to his first win of the season. Cardamon faced 17 batters, allowed four hits, walked one and struck out five.
The win snapped Luther's five-game losing streak. The Norse are now 4-5 overall. Tomorrow, Luther will face Weseleyan University (CT) in a double header that is scheduled to begin at at 4:00 p.m. central time.
Saturday, March 16 vs. Wesleyan University (CT) - L 3-4, W 9-1
Luther split today's double header with Wesleyan University (CT). The Cardinals defeated the Norse 4-3 in game one and were defeated by the Norse 9-1 in game two. Both games were seven inning contests.
With Luther holding a 3-2 lead after 5 1/2, Wesleyan University scored two runs on three hits in the bottom of sixth to secure the game one victory.
Trent Athmann hit his second home run of the year that drove in two Norse runs in the third. Luther scored its third run in the fifth thanks to a double steal by Jake Halverson and Jake Vogt of second and home respectively. Owen Vander Linden had two of Luther's eight hits.
Colin Coffey (1-1) allowed four runs on 10 hits and was credited with the loss.
In game two, Luther jumped out to a 4-1 lead after one and then put three on the board in the fifth and two in the sixth. Vander Linden continued to swing a hot bat going 2-for-4 with three rbi. Bryce Hingst was 2-for-4 and both Joe McKibben and Kelby Johnson went 2-for-3. All three players were credited with two rbi.
Kyle Bode (1-1) allowed one run on four hits, walked four and struck out three en route to the win on the mound.
The split gives Luther an overall record of 5-6. The Norse will wrap up their trip to Tucson, Arizona tomorrow when they will play Allegheny College (PA) at 10:00 a.m.
Sunday, March 17 vs. Allegheny College (PA) - L 4-14
The Allegheny College Gators defeated Luther 14-4 today. The Gators led 6-2 after six and then scored four in the seventh, once in the eighth and three times in the ninth. This was the final game for the Norse in Tucson, Arizona.
Kelby Johnson was the lone Norse to produce multiple hits going 2-for-4. Kelby Johnson drove in two runs on a pinch hit double in the eighth. Derek McCready drove in a run in the first and Jake Vogt had an rbi in the third.
Tyler Boesel threw 5 1/3 innings and allowed six runs on seven hits and was credited with the loss.
The loss gives Luther an overall record of 5-7. The Norse are scheduled to host St. John's University (MN) for three games, March 23-24.
