Luther exploded for four runs in the seventh and five in the eighth of this scheduled nine inning game and defeated Nebraska Wesleyan University 13-3 in eight. The win gives Luther an Iowa Conference record of 10-8, 20-14 overall. The Norse have now won 10 of their last 14 games. Luther has also posted 20 or more wins in each of Head Coach Bryan Nikkel's three seasons at the helm.
Eight different players recorded a hit as the Norse tallied 14 for the game. Cody Reimer led the attack with four RBI while Joe Silversmith drove in three runs. Both posted a 3-for-5 effort at the plate. Silversmith's RBI came in the eighth thanks to a three-run blast over the left field fence, his fourth of the year. Bryce Hingst and Jake Halverson drove in two runs each. Hingst was 2-for-5 and Halverson was 1-for-4 for the afternoon.
Teddy Klingsporn went the distance on the mound. Klingsporn faced 34 batters, allowed three runs on seven hits, walked two and struck out five. He is now 6-1 and has struck out a team best 49.
These two teams are scheduled to wrap up this three-game series tomorrow with a double header. First pitch is slated for Noon.
