Luther was defeated by Cornell this afternoon in Mount Vernon by a score of 7-6. The Rams produced 16 hits and scored three runs in the third, one in both the fourth and sixth innings and two in the seventh.
Trailing 7-3 entering the top of the eighth, Luther made things interesting by scoring three runs on two hits.
The Norse produced 15 hits and were led by Mitch Bruggers who was 4-for-6. Joe Silversmith went 3-for-5, while Jake Vogt, Bryce Hingst and Joe Sullivan all tallied two hits. Sullivan drove in two runs as did Max Uetz.
Teddy Klingsporn (5-1) suffered the loss, his first of the year. Klingsporn allowed four runs on 11 hits, walked two and struck out seven.
The loss gives Luther an overall record of 17-12. Cornell improved to 10-13.
Luther will wrap up its non-conference schedule this Sunday, April 23 when it hosts Northland College. This double header (2x7) is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
