The 2018 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region teams and Regional Players of the Year have been announced in all eight regions. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Division III All-America Committee.
ABCA/Rawlings All-Region first-team selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans will be announced on the evening of Thursday, May 24.
Three Luther juniors were named to the Central All-Region team. Starting pitcher Joey Cardamon (Ankeny, Iowa/Centennial) was a first team selection, while catcher Trent Athmann (Bird Island, Minn./BOLD) and short stop Jake Halverson (Rochester, Minn./John Marshall) were both third team honorees.
Earlier this year, all three were named all-Iowa Conference as first team selections. Cardamon was also named the Iowa Conference Pitcher of the Year. Cardamon was 5-1 in league play with an ERA of 1.57. For the year, he led the Norse pitching staff with a record of 9-1 and an ERA of 1.43.
