Joe Silversmith Named IIAC Performer of the Week

The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) has announced that senior Joe Silversmith has been named the league's Position Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 30. This is the first time Silversmith has been so honored.

This past week, Silversmith helped lead Luther to a record of 4-1. The Norse split with league leading University of Dubuque in Dubuque (2-3, 5-4 (10)) and swept Nebraska Wesleyan University at Home (13-3 (8), 9-3, 12-7).

Silversmith batted .571 (12-for-21) with 8 RBIs and posted a slugging percentage of .857, thanks to one double, one triple and his fourth home run of the year. 

As the Norse enter the final week of the regular season, Silversmith leads the team in batting average (.398), RBI (27), triples (3), home runs (4), slugging percentage (.667) and on-base percentage (.500). He is also a perfect 14-for-14 in stolen bases. 

Luther hosts University of Dubuque (1x9) on Tuesday, May 2 and then finished the conference schedule at Loras College Friday (1x9) and Saturday (2x9), May 5-6.
