Luther College Director of Athletics Renae Hartl has announced that Miles Clifton has been named the Director of Athletic Performance. Clifton, who has been Luther's Assistant Sports Performance Coach since Feb. 6, 2019, replaces Alli Jenicke who resigned earlier this fall.
"During the interview process, Miles did an outstanding job and was selected from a large pool of qualified candidates for this position," stated Hartl. "We couldn't be more excited for him to lead our performance department. The work he has done since he joined us has been impressive, especially the plans that he and Associate Athletic Director Alex Smith put together and executed to ensure our Legends Center is a safe place for our student-athletes to workout during this Covid-19 pandemic. Coach Clifton will be organizing all 19 varsity programs along with an assistant coach that we will do a national search for immediately."
A 2013 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, Clifton joined the Luther Sports Performance coaching staff after serving as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo., (July 2017-Feb. 2019).
Prior to his time at William Jewell, he served as a strength and conditioning intern at Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass., (June 2018-August 2018) and Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Mo., (May 2017-July 2017).
"I’m thrilled for the opportunity to lead our Athletic Performance department moving forward," commented Clifton. "I’m excited to continue to work along side all the great coaches and staff members here at Luther who work tirelessly to provide an exceptional college experience to the best group of student-athletes in Division III. Go Norse!"
