It was announced today that Luther College cross country runners Lauren Mordini, Tyler Broadwell and Isaac Jensen have been selected to participate at the NCAA III National Cross Country Championships. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is hosting the national finale at Lake Breeze Golf Club, Winneconne, Wis., on Saturday, Nov. 21. The women's race will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the men's race at 12:00 p.m.
In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals must qualify in their respective NCAA regions.
Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top two, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 16 teams. Sixteen additional teams were selected at-large.
Fifty-six individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in each championship.
Mordini qualified by finishing 11th overall from the field of 205 runners at the Central Regional held Saturday, Nov. 14 at Central College in Pella, Iowa. Mordini was Luther's top runner and was clocked at 22:51.0.
Broadwell and Jensen crossed the finish line 10th and 12th respectively from the field of 198 runners. Broadwell was clocked at 25:43.6 and Jensen crossed the finish line with a time of 25:49.9.
