Luther advanced to the second round of the consolation bracket after defeating No. 9 UW-La Crosse (19-18). The match finished (18-18) and Luther earned one team point due to the tie breaker that was determined by falls (1-0). Marcus Mandler (141) posted the only fall in the match over Hayden Schlough at (1:02).
La Crosse held an 18-15 lead heading into the 285 match. Keenan Feldpausch defeated Adam Gusky (6-1) to level the score at 18-18.
The Norse also posted wins by Teagen Miller (149), Tanner Weaver (165), and Ira Kuehn (184). Miller defeated Tyler Schackle (11-9), Weaver defeated Nick Fetzner (9-4) and Kuehn defeated Connor Williams (6-2).
Following this match, Luther is now 7-1 and UW-La Crosse is 5-4. These two teams will face each other again in La Crosse on Jan. 31.
Luther will now move to Freedom Hall and will face Olivet College (MI) at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon. Olivet defeated UW-Osh Kosh 23-13 in the first round of the consolation tournament.
