The men's basketball team was defeated for the first time this year by Redlands University (CA) 87-62. This was the first of two games the Norse are playing at the Lee Fulmer Memorial Classic that is being hosted by Redlands.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 46-29 halftime lead thanks to a 48% shooting effort and went on to outscore the Norse 41-33 in the second stanza.
Three Norse tallied double digits led by Ray Whitlock and Aaron Blumberg who both tallied 11 points. Whitlock did almost all of his damage at the charity stripe connecting on 7-of-11. Blumberg came in off the bench and was 4-of-5 from the field that included a 3-for-3 effort from behind the three-point line. Garrian Wade completed the trio with 10 points.
The Bulldogs David Menary led all scorers with 15 points and was one of four players to post double figures.
Following tonight's game, both teams have an overall record of 2-1.
Tomorrow, Luther will wrap up its trip to California against the University of La Verne at 6:50 p.m. (cst). La Verne was defeated by Southwestern (TX) in tonight's first game by a final of 73-54.
