Luther kicked off the new year with a 91-75 road victory over Buena Vista University. The victory was the fifth in a row.
The Norse jumped out to a 31-10 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as they improved to 3-0 in the American Rivers Conference.
Six players tallied double figures led by Laura Holtz who poured in a game high 24 points. Holtz is closing in on her 1000th career point, needing just four more to reach this milestone. Laura Hamilton was next with 15, followed by Coranda Vickerman with 14, Madi Spence with 12 and both Maggie Anderson and Grace Prokosch with 11 each.
Hamilton also tied the single game school record with 10 steals. Danielle Dunnwald set the record against Millikin University Dec. 18, 2005. Her 10 picks increased her season total to 39 and her career total to 247 that ranks second all-time behind Dunwald's 341.
Buena Vista was led by Destiny Einerwold with 19, Jennifer Schneider and Nicole Lange with 15 each and Erin Gerke with 13.
The Norse shot 51.4% and out rebounded the Beavers 31 to 28 with 14 coming on the offensive glass.
The win gives Luther an overall record of 5-5. Buena Vista fell to 0-4 in the A-R-C, 1-12 overall.
Luther will host Central College on Wednesday, Jan. 8 with a start time scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
