Nationally ranked No. 10 Nebraska Wesleyan University defeated Luther this afternoon in Snyder Arena by a final of 80-66. The victory was the third in a row for NWU that remained atop the American Rivers Conference standings with a mark of 6-0.
The Prairie Wolves shot 51.7% and out scored the Norse 42-10 in the paint. Nate Schimonitz led all scorers with 22 points. Clay Reimers and Jack Hiller also tallied double figures with 18 each.
Luther did the majority of its damage from behind the three-point line, shooting 43.8% (14-32) from distance. Zach Randolph, Aaron Blumberg and Garrian Wade all finished with 12 points. Randolph and Wade were both 4-of-6 from behind the arch.
The loss gives Luther an A-R-C record of 1-4 and it is now 5-9 overall. NWU improved to 13-2.
Luther will travel to Wartburg College next on Wednesday, Jan. 15. Tip-off will take place at 8:00 p.m.
