Luther hosted the two-day, 36-hole Norse Classic at Fox Ridge Golf Club in Dike, Iowa. It was a bit of a preview of American Rivers Conference as all but one team from the league played in the season opening tournament. Mount Mercy University, an NAIA school located in Cedar Rapids, was the only non-league team to play.
The University of Dubuque won the team title posting rounds of 317-310 for a 627. Mount Mercy was second with a 633, followed by Wartburg College at 634.
Interim Head Coach Jane Hildebrand entered her entire roster to form two teams. The first team finished fourth with a 645. The Luther White team finished in a two-way tie for seventh with Simpson College at 685.
Individually, Dubuque's Daniela Miranda finished six over, posting rounds of 74-76 for a 150 to earn medalist honors. Morgan Kranz and Natale Cook of Mount Mercy both finished four strokes back at 154. There were 59 players in the field. Kranz shot rounds of 78-76, while Cook shot rounds of 80-74.
Luther returns to action Sept. 7-8, when it will travel to Waverly, Iowa for the Wartburg Fall Invitational. The two-day tournament will be played at Prairie Links Golf Course with a scheduled start time of 9:00 a.m.
