It was the American Rivers Conference opener this afternoon at the University of Dubuque. The Norse defeated the Spartans 22-18 and improved to 3-0 overall. Today's match started at 141.
After falling behind the the Spartans 12-3 after four matches, the Norse rattled off 16 points and held a 19-12 lead after seven bouts. Sage Nugent (174) got things started in this stretch posting a major decision over Logan Sears (11-2). Ira Kuehn (184) followed with a fall over Delmontae Davis at 4:02. Donovan Corn added six more points thanks to a fall over Ethan Cain at 1:31.
Two matches later, Sam Camacho (125) secured the victory with a 9-2 decision over Mikbel Obeid. Marcus Mandler (141) put the first three points on the board for the Norse with a 8-1 victory over Brock Radeke.
Luther returns to action one week from today when it will host the Gator 'Boots' Duals in Nashville, Tenn., Dec. 21.
