Luther leveled its American Rivers Conference record to 1-1 thanks to a 3-1 road victory over Simpson College. The Norse won sets one and two 25-20 and 26-24 respectively. Simpson pulled to within one capturing set three 25-23. In the fourth and deciding set, the Norse held a 22-17 lead, but the Storm battled back to pull to within 24-22, before Norse finished the match with a final of 25-23.
The win snapped a nine match losing streak and gives Luther an overall record of 4-11. Simpson fell to 0-2 in league play, 6-7 overall.
The Norse won the battle at the net recording 13 team blocks to the Storm 6. Rachel Luebbe was credited with two block solos and five block assists. Greenwood was next recording two block solos to go along with four block assists.
Greta Staffacher led the team with 28 digs and Sam Sixta dished out 33 assists.
Luther will finish the week with a non-conference match at UW-La Crosse on Saturday, Sept. 28. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
