No. 18 Luther leveled its American Rivers Conference overall record to 1-1 this afternoon after defeating Coe College 3-0 in Cedar Rapids. The Norse out shot the Kohawks 13-4 and scored twice in the first half and once in the second.
Ben Keller drove in what proved to be the game winner early into the match at 2:34 assisted by Marcos Villa (1). Keller's goal was his sixth of the year. Twelve minutes later, Villa scored his sixth goal of the year, on a header from a cross from Will Overberg (3) at 14:59. Overberg also got into the scoring action at 54:37 assisted by Colin Hughes (3). Overberg's goal was his second of the year.
Fred Nudel received the start in front of the nets and only faced one shot on goal, thanks to a Norse defensive unit that allowed just four shots the entire afternoon.
The victory gives Luther an overall record of 7-2-1. Coe fell to 0-2 in the A-R-C, 4-7 overall.
Luther returns to action at home tomorrow when it will face UW-Superior at 2:00 p.m.
