Central College snapped an eight-match losing streak to No. 8 Luther this afternoon in the Valley. The Dutch scored twice in the first half en route to a 2-1 final in the American Rivers Conference opener for both teams.
Central's Charlie Pritchard scored his fifth and sixth goals of the year at 5:14 and 23:36. His first goal was assisted by Nick Ashton and his second was unassisted. Luther's lone goal of the match came at 78:53, an own goal by the Dutch defense.
The Norse entered the match with an unbeaten streak of six matches. They are now 6-2-1 overall. Central improved to 9-1-1 with its only loss of the season to Carleton College (MN) Sept. 24, by a final of 2-1.
Luther returns to A-R-C action on Saturday, Oct. 5, when it will travel to Coe College. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
