Luther fell to 0-4 in the American Rivers Conference after dropping a 56-21 decision to Loras College this afternoon in the Rock Bowl. It was Homecoming and the Duhawks did not disappoint, as they led 35-14 at halftime and outscored the Norse 21-7 in the second half.
Duhawks quarterback Noah Sigwarth had a huge afternoon. Sigwarth rushed for 177 yards and three touchdowns and threw for 75 yards. He tallied touchdown runs of 64, 24 and four. His 252 yards of total offense was nearly half of the Duhawks total yardage of 507 this afternoon.
Luther produced 471 yards of total offense with 301 coming on the ground. Andre Atkins had a big afternoon. He caught two passes for a career high 73 yards and scored twice. His first touchdown was a career long 67-yard reception from Michael Lorento with 2:43 left in the first quarter. Early in the fourth frame, Atkins ran the ball for a career long 49 yards for a touchdown, and finished with 138 all-purpose yards.
Luther's second touchdown of the afternoon was a six-yard strike from Lorento to Canon Reece with seven seconds remaining in the first half. Lorento finished the afternoon 9-of-19 for 155 yards and one interception and was sacked twice.
Luther is off next week. The Norse will host the University of Dubuque Oct. 26 at 1:00 p.m.
