Luther won a hard fought non-conference decision over visiting UW-La Crosse this afternoon by a final of 6-3. The Eagles held a 2-1 advantage after doubles, but Luther rebounded by winning five of six singles matches to secure the victory.
Two of Luther's five singles wins went to a third set. Morton at No. 2 defeated Kyle Wogahn (6-3, 5-7, 10-8) and Nate Parsons defeated Riley Peterson (6-7, 6-3, 10-8) at No. 3. Norwood at No. 5 and Jake Smith at No. 6, both won in straight sets. Norwood defeated Diedrich (6-3, 6-2), while Smith defeated Joshua Williams (6-3, 6-2). Cole Schnieder won at No. 1. He was leading 6-2, 1-0 when Alex Alt retired.
The win was the second in a row for the Norse who improved to 13-5. The Norse travel to Coe College this Friday, April 19. Both teams are undefeated in American Rivers Conference play. This match will begin in Cedar Rapids at 1:00 p.m.
