For the second time in as many days, the Luther men's tennis team was defeated by a nationally ranked team. This afternoon, No. 39 Grinnell College posted a 6-3 victory over Luther in Grinnell, Iowa.
The Pioneers led 2-1 at the conclusion of doubles play. The Luther duo of Nate Parsons and Cole Schneider posted the lone victory at No. 1 (8-4) over Ben Cobin and Bowen Mince.
In singles, Schneider posted a three-set victory at No. 1 (6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-0. Grant Morton won a straight set match at No. 2 (7-5, 6-2). Parsons at No. 3 and Brook Norwood at No. 4 were both defeated in three-set matches, while Jake Smith and No. 5 and Ryan Ortega at No. 6 both lost in straight sets.
The loss gives Luther on overall record of 10-4, while Grinnell improved to 18-4.
The Norse will return to American Rivers Conference action with their first home match of the season on Tuesday, April 9 versus Wartburg College. This match will begin at 4:00 p.m.
