Luther's six-match win streak came to an end this afternoon as No. 37 Carleton College defeated the Norse 5-4 at Lifetime Fitness Center, Lakeville, Minn.
The Knights held a 2-1 lead after doubles and won three of six singles matches to secure the victory.
Brian Murman and Grant Morton posted the lone doubles win at No. 2 (8-7 (7-2)) over Aaron Goodman and Xander Zuczek.
In singles, the Knights posted the first three victories at No. 6, No. 4 and No. 1 to secure the win. Morton at No. 2, Nate Parsons at No. 3 and Jake Smith at No. 5 recorded wins for the Norse. Morton defeated Zuczek (6-3, 6-2), while both Parsons and Smith battled to three set victories. Parsons defeated Jordon O'Kelly (2-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-8)), and Smith defeated Lewis White (6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7)).
The loss gives Luther an overall record of 10-3. Tomorrow, the Norse travel to Grinnell College for a match that is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
