American Rivers Conference AQ Tournament - Recap

The Luther College women's tennis team earned its first appearance to the NCAA III National Tournament since 2011 after capturing the title of the A-R-C Automatic Qualifier this afternoon in Cedar Rapids.

The Norse defeated Coe College 5-0 in the semifinals and then defeated regular season champions Wartburg College 5-3 in the championship match. 

In the semifinals, the Norse held a 3-0 lead after doubles and Britta Pressler at No. 2 singles and Shelby Cook at No. 3 singles secured the victory with straight set victories.

In the title tilt, Luther led 2-1 after doubles. Cook and Pressler won at No. 1 (8-4) and Devon Bourget and Kelsey Kruse won at No. 2 (8-0).

In singles the Norse needed three wins to secure the title. Bourget defeated Ashley Rottinghause (6-2, 6-1) at No. 1; Pressler defeated Hannah Fox (6-0, 6-3) at No. 2; and Shelby Cook won a three-set match (4-6, 7-5, 6-4) over Sydney Rottinghaus at No. 3.

The two victories today gives Luther an overall record of 15-8.
