Luther and Nebraska Wesleyan University began their three-game series this afternoon in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Prairie Wolves defeated the Norse 10-0 in seven innings.
Prairie Wolves senior pitcher Connor Cech tossed a five-hit shutout. Only two Luther base runners advanced as far as third base twice during this shorten game. Jake Halverson reached third in the first and Bryce Hingst touched the same bag in the sixth. Chech faced 28 batters, walked two and struck out four.
Colin Coffey (4-3) was credited with the loss. Coffey threw five complete, allowed five earned runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out three.
The loss was the second in a row for the Norse who are alone in second place in the American Rivers Conference with a record of 10-4. Nebraska Wesleyan improved to 6-8 in league play.
These two teams will wrap up the series tomorrow with a double header (2x9) that is slated to begin at Noon.
