Luther slipped to fourth place in the American Rivers Conference after being defeated by Simpson College 65-55 tonight in Indianola. The Storm outscored Luther 27-15 in the fourth frame, that included a 15-2 run in the final 2:18 to secure the victory. The Storm also scored 23 points at the free throw line.
For the second consecutive game Luther struggled putting the basketball in the hoop. The Norse shot 31.8% that included a 5-of-18 performance from behind the three-point line.
Simpson was led by Jenna Taylor with 12 and Janey Botkins with 11.
The loss gives Luther an A-R-C record of 8-4, 9-10 overall. Simpson moved into third place in the league standings with a mark of 9-4, 17-5 overall.
Luther returns to action this Wednesday, Feb. 6 when it will host league leaders and nationally ranked Wartburg College. The Knights are 11-1 in league play and have won seven in a row. Tip-off will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the Regents Center.
