Luther improved to 6-2 in the American Rivers Conference defeating Nebraska Wesleyan University 81-53 this afternoon in Lincoln. The Norse defense held the Prairie Wolves to 28% and also won the battle of the boards 50-39. Luther won every quarter, outscoring NWU 20-15, 18-12, 25-18 and 18-8.
Kaylee Parks led a foursome of double digit Norse scorers pouring in a career high 25 points. Parks set a school record with seven three-point baskets. The old mark of six was held by five different players. The last to knock down six treys was Kylie Romeo against Central College on Feb. 3, 2016.
Laura Hamilton also tallied a career high for points with 21 and assists with 9. She was also credited with seven steals, one shy of her career high. Sarah Holtz and Madison Spence completed the foursome with 10 points each.
The Prairie Wolves were led by Klaire Phillips with 14 and Bailey Meehan with 11.
The win also gives Luther an overall record of 7-8. NWU, that has now lost five in a row, fell to 3-5 in the A-R-C, 8-9 overall.
Luther returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 23, when it will travel to the University of Dubuque. Start time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
