Luther's defense held Central to 17% (10-of-59) and forced the Dutch to turn the ball over 24 times, as the Norse posted a 66-40 victory. The win keeps Luther atop the American Rivers Conference standings with a record of 5-1. Central fell to 2-4.
Madison Spence led a trio of double digit scorers for the Norse. Spence produced a double-double scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in 15 minutes of play off the bench. Sarah Holtz and Laura Hamilton both chipped in 11. Hamilton also led the team with six assists, three blocked shots and five steals. Madilyn Heinke led all rebounders with a career high 12.
Central's lone double digit scorer was Maci Gambell who had 15 points.
The win was the fourth in a row for the Norse who are now 6-7 overall. Central is now 6-9 overall.
Luther will host Loras College on Wednesday, Jan. 16. Start time is slated for 6:00 p.m.
