The 36-hole Luther College Sail Classic turned into an 18-hole tournament after heavy rains washed out the second round Sunday morning. Luther hosted the annual tournament at Pheasants Ridge Golf Course, Cedar Falls, Iowa. The Par 72 measured 5,877 yards.
Luther placed fifth from the field of 11 teams. The University of Dubuque had two teams in the field. The Norse shot 324 and finished 23 strokes behind Grinnell College that won the tournament with a team score of 301.
Mt. Mercy was second at 305, followed by Wartburg College at 312 and Central College was fourth at 316.
Individually, Morgan Kranz led the Norse with a 78. Krantz finished in a three-way tie for tenth place from the field of 65 golfers. Aimee Hodges shot 80 and tied for 17th; Linda Jiang finished tied for 23rd with an 82; and Sydney Maule carded an 84 and tied for 29th. Elyse Menssen also played in the top-five and shot 90.
Alexa Eichstadt and Maddy Wedmore played as individuals. Eichstadt finished tied for 33rd with an 85 and Wedmore was tied for 43rd with a 90.
Luther's next tournament will be the Wartburg Fall Invitational that will be played Sept. 8-9. The 36-hole tournament will be played at Prairie Links Golf Course, Waverly, Iowa.
