Luther College advanced to the NCAA III Super Regional Round thanks to a 3-0 victory over Saint Benedict this afternoon here in Decorah. The win gives Luther an overall record of 38-8. The Norse posted a 3-0 record this weekend, defeating Lake Forest College 11-3 (5) and Cornell College 6-0, prior to today's victory in the championship game over the Blazers.
The Norse did all of their damage in the second inning. The very next batter, Paige Timmerman ripped a double to left-center that scored Kaeli Kovarik who was pinch running for Addy Pender and Hocker.
Samantha Bratland, who was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, tossed a three-hit shut out. She walked one and struck out three en route to her 24th win in the circle against four losses.
Also named to the All-Region team includes Ashley Burrows, Hocker and Addy Pender.
Luther will now face the University of St. Thomas in a Super Regional that will take place May 18-19. Where this best two-out-of three series will be played will be announced Monday, May 14.
