Luther took the top seed of the American Rivers Conference Wartburg College, to five sets but came up short, dropping a 3-2 decision in Waverly tonight. Wartburg won sets one and three by scores of 25-13, 25-17 and Luther won sets two and four by finals of 29-27, 25-22. In the fifth and final set, Wartburg jumped out to an 8-2 advantage and never looked by en route to a 15-7 victory.
The trio of Karissa Kime, Anna Larson and Emma Veum led the Norse attack. Kime tallied a match high 18 kills, while both Larson and Veum were credited with 13 each. Sam Sixta and Larson both recorded a double-double. Sixta dished out 48 assists and produced 17 digs, while Larson was credited with 10 digs to go along with her 13 kills. Natalie Cote led the Norse in digs with 25.
The loss ends Luther's season with an overall record of 15-17. Wartburg advances to the A-R-C championship match that will be played in Waverly on Saturday, Nov. 3.
