No. 9 Luther rolled to a 9-0 victory over Buena Vista University this afternoon in the valley. The Norse scored six goals in the first half and three in the second. Eight different players scored and one goal was an own goal by BVU. This afternoon marked the most goals scored in a match since Oct. 3, 2009 when Luther defeated Cornell College (MN) 10-0.
Ben Keller (5) scored what proved to be the game winner at 2:28 assisted by Aidan O'Driscoll (1). Brunno Colon (5) followed on a penalty kick at 5:35. Joshua Donkor scored his first goal of the season at 29:22 assisted by Victor Machado (2). O'Driscoll (2) made it 4-0 at 31:13 assisted by Faydane Ouro-Akondo (1). Following a BVU own goal at 35:00, Teo Jubé scored his first goal of the season at 37:31 also assisted by Ouro-Akondo (2).
In the second half, Coach Garcia-Prats emptied the bench and Marcos Vila, Will Blain and Nana Asante-Apeatu all scored their first collegiate goals.
The Norse out shot the Beavers 28-2 and placed 18 shots on goal.
The win gives Luther an A-R-C record of 2-0, 9-2 overall. Today was Buena Vista's first conference match. The Beavers are now 0-10.
Luther returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 3 when it will host Macalester College at 7:00 p.m.
