Wheaton College (IL) put the first dent on No. 18 Luther's loss column posting a 1-0 victory. The Thunder kept their streak alive of never losing to the Norse, that has now run to six matches, dating back to 1997.
Both teams played well this afternoon. The Thunder's Sean Dunlop scored what proved to be the game winner at 19:06 assisted by Andrew Wade. Dunlop's goal was his first of the season, a shot off a free kick into the lower left corner of the net.
The Norse out shot the Thunder 18-8, but could not get one past goalkeeper Hasten Biddlecome, who was credited with seven saves.
Brunno Colon had four shots on goal, while Rafael Broseghini, Luke VonEschen and Ben Keller were all credited with one.
The loss gives Luther an overall record of 6-1. Wheaton improved to 3-1-1.
The Norse travel to No. 4 University of St. Thomas on Tuesday, Sept. 18. This match will start in St. Paul, Minn. at 4:00 p.m.
