Luther College and Carroll University (WI) faced each other for the first time on the soccer pitch this afternoon in the Oneota Valley. The Norse scored four goals in the first 19 minutes of play and added one in the second half en route to a 5-0 victory.
Ben Keller had a big afternoon. Keller scored what proved to be the game winner at 2:59, his fourth of the year, assisted by Brunno Colon (3). Keller later assisted on two goals en route to a total of four points for the match.
Andrew Avram was close behind Keller with a total of three points. Avram assisted on Tristan Davenport's fourth goal of the year at 12:43 and scored the fourth goal of the first half at 19:09.
Sandwiched between Keller's and Davenport's goals, Rafael Broseghini scored his first of the season from the top of the box unassisted at 5:15.
In the second half, Head Coach Chris Garcia-Prats was able to give his young players some extended playing time. Ben Sizelove scored his first career goal at 51:57, assisted by Colin Hughes (1).
Luther is off to its best start since 2014 and is now 5-0. The Norse will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 12 when they will travel to UW-Whitewater. Start time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
