Luther took sole possession of fourth place in the American Rivers Conference standings thanks to a 2-0 road victory over Central College. The win was Luther's second in a row and third in the last four matches.
The Norse dominated this match out shooting the Dutch 18-7 and placing nine shots inside the frame. Luther also had a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Luther scored both of its goals in the first half. Maggie Anderson drove in the game winner at 30:30 unassisted, her first of the year, placing a shot into the upper right hand corner of the Dutch net. Hanna Christopher added the insurance goal at 40:17, her fourth of the season, assisted by Sommer Stevens (3) who leads the team in this category.
Kennedy Bergren faced two shots on goal and turned both away en route to her fifth shutout of the season.
The win gives Luther an A-R-C record of 5-2, 5-7-3 overall. Central fell to 4-3 in league play, 10-5-1 overall.
Luther completes the regular season schedule at home on Tuesday, Oct. 23. The Norse will host the Spartans from the University of Dubuque (5-1-1) who are in a two-way tie for second place with Wartburg College. Tuesday's match begins at 5:00 p.m.
