Luther traveled to La Crosse, Wis. and was defeated by UW-La Crosse this evening by a final of 2-1. The loss dropped Luther's overall record to 1-5-3, while UWL improved to 5-2-1.
The Eagles did all of their damage in the first half. Maya Schmitt (1) scored the first goal of the match at 27:42. Cassie Handrick (4) scored what proved to be the game winner at 32:24.
Marta Springer scored Luther's lone goal in the 45th minute unassisted. It was Springer's second goal of the season.
Goalkeeper Kennedy Bergren went the distance in front of the nets and was credited with eight saves. On the opposite end of the field, Luther placed five shots on goal, four that were stopped by keeper Lily Brock.
Luther returns to American Rivers Conference action this Saturday when it will host Buena Vista University. Start time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
