Luther completed its weekend swing to the west side of the American Rivers Conference defeating Buena Vista University 3-1 this afternoon in Storm Lake. Set scores were 19-25, 25-11, 25-22 and 25-23. The victory was the third in a row for the Norse who moved into a two-way tie for second place with the University of Dubuque in the league standings.
Katie Shabatura dominated at the net this afternoon recording seven total blocks. Anna Larson and Natalie Cote tied for the team lead with 18 digs each, while Sam Sixta dished out 42 assists.
The Norse tallied an attack percentage of .224, while holding the Beavers to an attack percentage of .095. Karissa Kime led all attackers with 15 kills. Larson and Emma Veum were next with 12 each, while Shabatura and Brooke Greenwood were credited with five and four kills respectively.
The Beavers were led by Kylie Roe with 13 kills and Sydney McLaren with 11.
Luther has qualified for the six-team A-R-C Tournament. Today's victory gives the Norse a league record of 5-2, 14-14 overall. Buena Vista slipped into a two-way tie for fourth place with Loras College at 4-3.
Luther wraps up the A-R-C regular season schedule at home on Tuesday, Oct. 23, when it will host Coe College. Start time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
