UW-La Crosse 3, Luther 0
Luther opened its two-day, four-match appearance at the Dig Panici Volleyball Classic hosted by UW-Whitewater, dropping a 3-0 decision to UW-La Crosse. The Eagles posted set wins of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-12.
Emma Veum led the Norse attack with eight kills. She entered the weekend needing four kills to record her 1,000th career kill. Karissa Kime was credited with four kills and Anna Larson had three. The Norse posted an attack percentage of .042 recording a total of 20 kills for the match.
La Crosse tallied 39 kills and 14 ace serves. Marisa Johnson led the Eagles with 11 kills.
The loss gives Luther an overall record of 9-10. La Crosse improved to 12-7.
No. 23 UW-Whitewater 3, Luther 0
No. 23 UW-Whitewater defeated Luther 3-0 in tonight's second match of the Dig Panici Volleyball Classic. The Warhawks posted set victories of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-17.
Anna Larson and Karissa Kime led the Norse attack with eight kills each. Sam Sixta dished out 12 assists and Natalie Cote led the team with 14 digs. Katie Shabatura led the team with four total blocks.
Erin McNeil led the Warhawks with 13 kills. UWW tallied 46 for the game and also had six ace serves.
The loss gives Luther an overall record of 9-11, while UWW improved to 15-3.
Saturday, Oct. 6
St. Thomas 3, Luther 0
Luther lost its third match in a row, a 3-0 decision to the University of St. Thomas (MN). Set scores were 25-12, 25-23 and 25-16.
St. Thomas was efficient on offense recording an attack percentage of .443. The Tommies tallied 47 killes in 88 attempts with only eight errors.
Luther's attack percentage was .183. Emma Veum led the attack with 10 kills and was the only player to record double digit kill totals for either team. Karissa Kime was next with nine and Anna Larson had six. Sam Sixta dished out 25 assists and Natalie Cote led the team with 11 digs.
The loss gives Luther an overall record of 9-12. St. Thomas improved to 16-6.
UW-Stevens Point 3, Luther 1
Luther completed the two-day UW-Whitewater Classic dropping a 3-1 decision to UW-Stevens Point. The Norse won set one 25-20 and then were defeated 25-22, 25-19 and 25-22. The loss was the fourth in a row for the Norse who are now 9-13. Stevens Point improved to 15-9.
Four Norse tallied double-digit kill totals. Anna Larson led this group with 15. Both Karissa Kime and Katie Shabatura were credited with 13 and Emma Veum had 11. Shabatura matched her career high for kills in a four-set match.
Sam Sixta also match a career high for assists (49) in a four-set match and had a double-double thanks to a team high 19 digs. Veum led the team at the net recording a match high six block assists.
April Gehl led UWSP posting a match high 24 kills.
Luther will host Central College Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
