Luther hosted league leading University of Dubuque tonight in the Regents Center and was defeated by a final of 3-2.
Dubuque won set one 25-18 and set three 25-11. The Norse won set two 25-16 and set four 25-21 to send the match into the fifth and deciding set. In the fifth set, Dubuque jumped out to an 8-1 advantage. Luther answered with a 9-5 run and pulled to within three (10-13) only to see Dubuque win the final two points of the match.
The Spartans Kara Wright had a monster night producing an attack percentage of .315 en route to 21 kills. Wright also posted a double-double recording 23 digs.
Luther was led by Karissa Kime and Anna Larson who were credited wth 13 and 12 kills respectively. Sam Sixta dished out 23 assists and Natalie Cote led the team with 23 digs. Grace Meyers recorded a double-double thanks to 12 assists and 12 digs.
The loss gives Luther an American Rivers Conference record of 1-2, 8-9 overall. Dubuque improved to 3-0 in league play, 10-6 overall.
Luther continues A-R-C action this Friday night when it will travel to Loras College. Match time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
