No. 9 Luther exploded for nine runs in the top of the sixth inning and defeated Carroll University 12-1 (6) in today's nightcap that ended around 10:30 p.m. in the Rochester Dome.
Luther's top-three in the batting order combined for five of Luther's nine hits and drove in half of its runs. Bailey Victoria in the lead-off slot was 2-for-4 with two RBI, Anna Strien went 1-for-4 and drove in a team best three RBI, and Ashley Burrows was also 2-for-4 with an RBI. Addy Pender drove in two runs with a double in the sixth.
Courtney Cooper began her Luther career in the circle striking out the first two batters she faced. Cooper went on to faced 21 batters, allowing one run on two hits, walking four and striking out four, en route to her first collegiate victory.
The win gives Luther an overall record of 2-0. The Norse will return to action here in the Rochester Dome next weekend, when they will play in the ACM Tournament March 3-4.
