It took five sets for Luther to defeat Lewis & Clark this afternoon at the UW-Whitewater Invitational. After jumping out to a 2-0 lead thanks to set victories of 25-19, 25-22, the Norse dropped the next two sets 18-25 and 23-25, setting up the fifth and deciding set. The Norse breezed to a 15-4 win securing the 3-2 victory.
Anna Larson and Emma Veum led the Norse attack. Larson tallied 14 kills and Veum was credited with 13. Karissa Kime was next with eight. Veum dominated at the net producing two solo blocks and three block assists.
Sam Sixta dished out 35 assists and had a double-double thanks to 13 digs. Natalie Cote led the Norse in digs with 18 and Kime was credited with 12. Kime was also credited with a team best four ace serves.
The win gives Luther an overall record of 4-2. Lewis & Clark fell to 1-5.
Luther will wrap up their trip to Whitewater, Wis., with two matches tomorrow. The Norse face Augustana (IL) at Noon, and host No. 14 UW-Whitewater at 2:00 p.m.
